Pioneering Poles Our pioneering poles are from straight softwood timber, mostly Douglas Fir. It is recommended that due to the pockets of sticky sap and tiny splinters in the bark, that the poles are peeled (you can do this yourself – advice and demo given free). Coarse sanding creates a suitably rough surface for the ropes.
Poles are sold in cut 5m lengths, but if you wish them to be cut up into shorter lengths this service is offered for free.
